Planning : Location Planning

For our preliminary task we went out and took pictures of the locations we planned to use in our short film. We decided on using the drama classroom in the music block with a single table and two seats set out so the focus is on the characters. We also took the pictures as we planned it on the storyboard so we know what we want it to look like when actually filming.

Planning : Storyboarding

The purpose of doing a storyboard is to plan where you're going to film and what shots you're going to use. This is useful because otherwise when it comes to filming you're not going to know where you're filming, what shots you're doing, so you can get straight to filming instead of wasting time; which is why it's good practise to do this task when planning to film a short piece of film.

Me As A Consumer Of Media

I consume media everyday, and it has had an effect on me, whether it be how I speak or how I dress and look. The main mediums of communications that have effected me are TV, film, internet, radio and print.

I have always watched a lot of TV, I watch it on Netflix, on TV (Virgin media) or on website online, I tend to watch a lot of American shows like Teen Wolf, Supernatural and Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D which I watch online when they get released in America, but I also watch British shows like Doctor Who and Sherlock. Watching a lot more American shows than British means  that I and many other people are becoming more Americanised, for example we use more American slang and dress in more American fashions. The cast of the show Teen wolf have become fashion icons for a lot of teenagers since the show has been first aired.

Another way I consume the media is through films. However, I don't always necessarily watch films through DVD's as there are also many different ways I can access them. This includes Netflix, youtube, TV and download and yet again the main films I watch seem to be American as the majority of my favourite actors and actresses are American, except the few Australian and British -for example Benedict Cumberpatch and Tom Hiddleston.

I use the internet for social media sites like Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, KIK messenger. I also spend a lot of time on youtube,  watching films and TV online and on the Kerrang website, which I started going on after I started buying Kerrang magazine.

For print I used to buy Kerrang magazine, which influenced me to listen to the radio channel and go on the webpage, but as they started covering more heavy music I stopped buying it as it had changed from bands that I like to bands that I've never heard of and never wanted to. However I now like to buy Empire magazine, because it's things that I'm interested in and the way they write about it keeps my interest.

I don't listen to radio very often, but when I do I only listen to Kerrang radio, because it's the only radio channel that plays the sort of music that I like.

So this pretty sums up the sort of media I find myself surrounded by in daily life.
